Welcome to Scokland - Keak Da Sneak & San Quinn

December 17, 2008 | Author: Rhydian H.M.

“Welcome to Scokland” is a joint album from Bay Area veteran rappers San Quinn (who recently released the single “Rockin’ Up Work”) and Keak Da Sneak. The album is backed by distribution label Ehustl Entertainment and features guests mainly from in and around the Bay Area such as Matt Blaque and Baby S.

“Welcome to Scokland” is a real party drop, with a string of exciting beats and well worked flow from the duo in great tandem, typified in fourth track “Hot N’ Cool”, as well the ultimate track “Cannons On The Blocks”, which closes the album in style.

The main opening track “Welcome To Scokland”, sets off the album with an upbeat, celebratory sound, while the lyrical pair announce themselves and their ostentatious intentions. San Quinn opens with “It’s a Quinn like a m*therf**king King Pin, here spending like a hurricane whirlwind”, before Keak Da Sneak comes with his more abrasive voice and stop-start flow.

Up next, in “She Fine”, San Quinn and Keak Da Sneak make a glowing dedication to a seemingly irresistible girl. The duo spit a flow of praise over a mellow, piano based beat accompanied by guest Matt Blaque singing “She fine” and more throughout. San Quinn really steals the show, as he barely takes a breath to storm into the track with, “You got me lustin’, got me lookin’, got me rollin’ n get that a*s pushin’; and cuz you’re jus’ right, body jus right, jets blue, let’s do that red eye fly’; you’re a real fine sight, make a n*gga game, n*gga need to go home and you make a n*gga stay”.

The track “Streets Don’t Lie” quickly gets your attention, as it harmonizes a slow hard bass beat with synthesized instrumentals. The lyricists drop a couple of short verses that cover the eventful trials of the street, including threats of incarceration.

Up first is San Quinn, who takes the lead again, rhyming “Trumped up charges, false accusations, real black and white papers, life in the statements”. Keak Da Sneak then expands on the threat of the law with “outstanding warrants is likely to come, ain’t no bailing (one time)” and the pursuit by police “up and down for us, n*ggas snitchin’, it’s a cold game”.

From there on out, Keak Da Sneak & San Quinn spit their game, and give us some decent tracks at the end of the album, including “Da Hood In Me” and “Cannons On the Blocks”.

“Welcome To Scokland” was released on December 9 and is packed with vibes from the streets of San Francisco and Oakland as both Keak Da Sneak & San Quinn blend together styles and experiences to deliver a number of tracks well worth listening to. Be sure to check it out here.
