We Takin’ Over - DJ Khaled (feat. T.I., Akon & Birdman)

Akon’s soulful voice rides out on the hook of this hot single from the Palestinian Power House, DJ Khaled. Khaled has become the king of collabos and he does not fail to impress with the lineup in this song. T.I., Rick Ross, Akon, and Birdman all are a big part of the popular southern rap movement. Add in the thumping, chime-laden beats and Khaled made sure the track was destined for the top of the charts.
Khaled makes song that other rappers wish they were on, so much so they usually try and hop on the remix. “We Takin’ Over” is a pusher’s anthem and sings the praises of movin’ weight.
Lil’ Wayne kills his short verse, and that’s not just in direct contrast with the sorry verse that Baby spits, it starts:
I am the beast
Feed me rappers or feed me beats
I am untamed, I need a leash
I am insane, I need a shrink
I love brain, I need a leech
There have been songs that grew out of verses of this song, particularly Wayne’s verse. DJ Cinema did a crazy remix where the intro of the song was a clip from the movie Little Shop of Horrors (the one with the piranha plant that shouts “Seymour, feed me!”) and the hook is just the lines “Feed me rappers or feed me beats” chopped and screwed. Just goes to show, Khaled is throwin’ down stuff that is inspiring other people, that’s big.
