Rockin’ Up Work - San Quinn

December 7, 2008 | Author: Rhydian H.M.

“Rockin’ Up Work” is the fifth track of San Quinn’s seventh album “From a Boy to a Man”, which was preceded by “The Rock: Pressure Makes Diamonds” (2006).

He has been prolific for more than a decade, recording his first album at the age of 15 according to his MySpace page; however, if you hadn’t heard of him during most of that time, that’s because he’s mostly been underground in the Bay Area, but don’t let that put you off enjoying this addition.

On “Rockin’ Up Work”, San Quinn’s outstanding flow shines through, as he medleys with a bumping party beat produced by San Francisco based DEX BEATS. His lyrical word play ensures the beat penetrates, exemplified with “Oh no the cocaine’s a government issue, gotta be a killer if I’m hustlin’ wid you”. He adds, “Bi*ch wid a big a*s nearly give me whiplash” and “White collar crime for a dirty green dollar”. The Left coast rapper stresses throughout “still rippin’ my turf when I’m famous, why, cuz I’m rockin’ up work”.

“Rockin’ Up Work” was released with the album “From a Boy to a Man” on November 24 (check it out here). Fans of San Quinn should surely be delighted with this stirring addition. For anyone listening to the longstanding Bay Area lyricist for the first time, after sampling the cadence of his flow here, you might find yourself asking why you weren’t privy to one of his treats earlier.
