Lost - Gorilla Zoe (feat Lil Wayne)

November 3, 2008 | Author: Rhydian H.M.

“Lost” is the latest single on the album “Don’t Feed the Animals” by Gorilla Zoe, who is best known for his single “Hood N*gga”, from his debut solo album “Welcome to the Zoo” (2007). The track also features Lil Wayne.

Gorilla Zoe tells a weird tale of losing his mind, “caught up in a world, a labyrinth, a maze”. His bass vocals combine with a dark rhythm to develop an increasingly depressing scene as he’s “losing control of the wheel” and “there’s no one to talk to”. He constantly questions his sanity throughout, repetitively asking “Am I losin’ it? I think I’m losin’, I’m losin my mind”.

Lil Wayne is similarly dark in tone, whilst telling more conclusively of own his madness “I’m a need counseling, I lost my mind and still haven’t found it” and expressing the crazy logic “Trapped in a maze, therefore I am amazing”.

The pair’s dark tones harmonize throughout, and come together to portray the madness as “I’m talkin” to myself” and telling of addiction to drinking purple syrup “Got me blazin this purple”, as well as in the hook with backing vocals to add a multiple-personality insanity they rhyme “I’m lost on a road..I… I… I don’t know what’s wrong with me”.

“Lost” was released on July 22 and provides a thought-provoking if not miserable story, an insight into the type of theme that Gorilla Zoe can draw from his experiences.
