Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body) - Three 6 Mafia
August 11, 2008 | Author: John Paz
A self professed “club banger,” “Lolli Lolli” is a polar opposite to almost every song Three 6 Mafia has ever put out.
DJ Paul and Juicy Jay create a dance track with a sing-song hook that can only remind listeners of Lil’ Wayne’s “Lollipop.” It was released as the first single to Three 6 Mafia’s newest album reportedly called Last 2 Walk. That this song was released so close to when Lil’ Wayne’s song blew up does not seem like a coincidence.
Perhaps the Hypnotize camp decided to capitalize on Wayne’s success because reports initially stated that Triple Six was going to release the song with Chamillionaire titled “Doe Boy Fresh” as their lead single.
The song features some of Hypnotize Minds newest members Young D and SuperPower. SuperPower is the singer in the hook and was mistakenly thought to be T-Pain when this song was first leaked. The song also initially sampled the movie Halloween’s theme song, but the song had to be modified to avoid any copyright infringement.
One would think that with a song not dealing with drugs, violence, thug-life, or any other of the group’s notoriously explicit themes that the crew would change their rap style. But no, the boys stay true to what they do best, and that is short, choppy verses that tend to assault the listener. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice if the group could show more versatility with there new found aim at the pop music charts in opposed to their cult classics.

DIs is a club bangerr for sure! At least it makes me wanna dance.
