Intuition - Jamie Foxx

January 29, 2009 | Author: Rhydian H.M.

“Intuition” is actor and R&B artist Jamie Foxx’s third studio album and comes three years after his sophomore LP “Unpredictable” (2005). The album features several guest artists including Lil Wayne, T.I, T-Pain and Kayne West amongst others.

Jamie Foxx’s theatrical inclinations spill out into this album’s conception as he seeks to portray aspects of a man’s intuition and what women want in several playful tracks.

“Just Like Me” is the first single of the album, and Jamie Foxx brings in T.I. to rhyme amusingly about how an intimate couple are similar since they have both cheated on each other. The track has a soft, mild tempo beat over which Jamie Foxx lyrically portrays a man accepting the fact that he has been cheated on, but humorously wanting to see if the details are the same as his cheating. Foxx sings “I wanna ask, has he been by the crib? Has he been in our car?…Cuz she’s been by the house, she’s been in the car”.

T.I comes in with a verse to portray the man complaining more about the woman’s affair, with “If I woulda never woulda hit that chick, would you even ever know that dude existed? Naw”.

In “Blame It”, T-Pain takes over the mic to sing with electronic vocals about alcohol being the culprit for lusty occurrences between a man and an intoxicated and aroused woman. On a slow, mellow rhythm, T-Pain attributes the guilt, as he rhymes “Oops, she spilled some drank on me…she put her body on me and she keep starin’ me”, while on the hooks he spells out the accused, with “Blame it on the goose, got you feeling loose, blame it on Petron, got you in the zone”.

In “Number One” Jamie Foxx and Lil Wayne want to underline being at the top, in demand and lusted by the girls. The track has a regular beat, while Lil Wayne’s verse is the highlight for his flow. Wayne opens on the girls with “If you want a soldier baby I can be your soldier and, girl, if your gay, umm, I can be your mother”.

Other noteworthy tracks include “Digital Girl”, which features The Dream with some auto-tune vocals and has a lively dance vibe, while ”Freak’in Me” produces a low sensual melody and beat in which guest Marsha Ambrosius duos with Jamie Foxx in delivering passionate vocals.

“Intuition” was released on December 12, 2008 on iTunes (check it out here) and has peaked at number 3 on the U.S Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, as entertainment king Jamie Foxx brings us his latest sounds to savor.
