“I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” is Cuban-American rapper Pitbull’s second release of his upcoming fifth album “Rebelution”, which is due out this summer.
“Calle Ocho” gives a sample of Pitbull’s acceptance for fusion, remixing the house single “75, Brazil Street” by Nicole Fasano & Pat Rich (who take credit for the production on this single) into a hip hop, party pulling sound while verbally toying with the jumpy beat. “Calle Ocho” is a single that goes straight for Pitbull’s female fan base with lyrics that aim to entice and flirt.
Mr. 305 bursts out in a cocky mood, bragging to the girls “I know you want me - want me; you know I want ya - want ya”, which becomes the chorus and he continues on a boastful spree, spitting “Six to tha clock, on my way to the top, uh”, in a swift shower of lyrics.
Pitbull also reminds us of his Cuban origins, rolling back the verbal tempo to spit some español and concludes his appeal to women with a description of his alluring facilities with “Baby you can get it, if you win It, we can play; baby I got cribs, I got condos we can stay, even got a king size mattress we can lay.”
“Calle Ocho” pulls together a mix of influences and is sure to be a popular club single. It has already reached No. 13 on the U.S Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart so far and was released on February 24 on iTunes (you can check it out here).
