Get Up - 50 Cent

October 28, 2008 | Author: OfficiallyHipHop

“Get Up”, is 50 Cent’s first release of his fourth album, “Before I Self Destruct”, and marks his proclaimed plans to return to the top following his experimental and relatively unsuccessful third album, “Curtis” (2007), which didn’t live up to his previous multi-award winning “The Massacre” (2005) and “Get Rich or Dye Tryin’” (2003).

In fact, in the few years since “The Massacre”, you can be forgiven for asking where 50 Cent has been, amongst the biggest Hip Hop hits, with even the best release from “Curtis”, the single “I Get Money” not having anything like the great beats we were almost guaranteed from a 50 Cent track. It looks like things are changing though, with this release.

In this single, 50 Cent is assertive, boasting his pull to the dance floor, rapping “I’m the reason everybody here” and announcing G-Unit’s claims with “we gonna show you just how we do it”. He raps some good lyrics with a bumping beat, that should “make it hot” on the dance floors, as he claims. This goes with the title of the track and his theme throughout, continuously encouraging you to “Get up!”, challenging you with “I want to see, I want to see you move”, and tempting you, rapping “when I’m playing, I’m saying I’m off the chain”.

The single was released at the iTunes Music Store on October 14th, and on the U.S Billboard it has currently reached number 44 in the Top 100 chart and number 20 in the Top Rap tracks.
