Do Ya Thang - Ice Cube

When it comes to choosing what kind of hip hop music I want to listen to for the day, Ice Cube never enters my mind, let alone pops up in my iTunes playlist. And even sadder still, I’ve never owned one of his songs, that is until the day I heard his single “Do Ya Thang,” which is off his eighth studio album “Raw Footage.”
“Do Ya Thang” was the second single released off “Raw Footage” (coming after Ice Cube’s first single “Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It”) and also featured a music video, which included popular artists The Game, Butch Cassidy, Musiq Soulchild, Young Jeezy and WC, according to the album’s page on Wikipedia.
The single has a nice west coast vibe to it, bouncing organs, and plenty of bass, and provides a totally lay back “chill” feeling for cruising the streets with, which is a result of solid production value. Ice Cube also spits some strong lyrics for most of the song, but the repetitive chorus may leave some listeners ready to move on to the next track of the album.
Do ya thang man…what they lookin’ at?

“Raw Footage” sold nearly 70,000 copies during its first week of release and has received high ratings on the iTunes Music Store.
