Day ‘n’ Nite - Kid Cudi

“Day ‘n’ Nite” is the first release of Cleveland rapper Kid Cudi’s debut album “Man on the Moon”, due to be out in the summer of 2009.

Kid Cudi has arrived on the hip hop scene under the wing of Kanye West and with “Day ‘n’ Nite” has opened up with a heartfelt single that is unusual for the hip hop genre. It was leaked on the Internet back in December 2007 and has had several remixes made since then, before being officially released.

Produced by Dot Da Genius, “Day ‘n’ Nite” has a somber and soft beat on which Kid Cudi suavely raps a story that takes you through the feelings of a worried man unable to sleep peacefully, describing his constant solitude, pain and yearning for a girl who once felt something for him. His only escape is to get stoned at night.

With a catchy chorus, “Day ‘n’ Nite”, is epitomized in its smooth and emotional lyrics, as Kid Cudi delivers “Cuz day and night, the lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night; he’s all alone through the day and night, the lonely loner seems to free his mind at night”, while his relief is played out in the conclusive lyrics “They fade away he slips into his white nights; he smokes a clip and then he’s on the way, to free his mind in search of, to free his mind in search of, to free his mind in search of.”

“Day ‘n’ Nite” was released March 20 on iTunes and has reached No. 15 on the U.S Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart, giving listeners an official taste of Kid Cudi’s debut (check it out here).
