Day Dreaming - Drama (feat. Snoop, T.I., Akon)

“Day Dreaming” is the lead single of Atlanta hip hop DJ Drama’s sophomore album “Gangsta Grillz: The Album II”, which is set to be released on March 31.

“Day Dreaming” features Akon, Snoop Dogg and T.I, with Drama as the official DJ and together the group endows compliments on a fantasy girl. The single is produced by Drumma Boy and has a stirring yet mild beat that uses calm melodies, which allow your excitement to brew.

Akon plays the main role, taking on the chorus and majority of verses, which gives the song an overall smooth vocal performance with his tuneful harping of “She got me day dreamin’” throughout. Snoop Dogg makes the second appearance in assonant style and delivering blunt lyrics, no more so in his opening “5 foot 8 on the late, what a date; she fell for the hook and the bait” before T.I’s entrance, which features the most enjoyable flow.

Over a temporarily hushed beat, T.I delivers his lustful lyrics with the verbal stresses in majestically melodic synchrony, spitting “Hey I sit and gaze, hazy eyed as I day dream; her n’ her girls on the stage, doin’ they thing”, “Her booty big enough to swallow up a g-string; hey, go on, put that ass on me like a bee sting” and “Hey let the King on, beat it like a tambourine; and peel ya’ out ya’ jeans and eat ya’ like a tangerine.”

The trio’s contrasting styles are finely reconciled by the variation in beat, and coherence provided by Akon’s consistency, to deliver a very enjoyable release that has reached No. 14 on the U.S Billboard Bullbing Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. “Day Dreaming” was released on February 10 on iTunes (check it out here).
