November 14, 2008 | Author: Rhydian H.M.

“King of the south” Ludacris has released his second single in 2 weeks with “Call Up the Homies”, following up “One More Drink” (feat. T-Pain) [read review here], which was released on October 28 on iTunes. “Call Up the Homies” is the fifth release of Ludacris’ upcoming sixth solo album “Theater of the Mind”, due to be released on November 25.

In “Call Up the Homies”, Ludacris teams up with The Game and Willie Northpole, to extend the list of star collaborations he has had so far in “Theater of the Mind”. Chris Brown and Sean Garret were in his first single “What Them Girls Like”, T.I in his second single “Wish You Would” and finally Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was in his third single “Undisputed”. (Anyone gettin’ excited for “Theater of the Mind”?)

The trio rap on the dangers of the streets to a fiery beat, as Ludacris warns “Keep one eye open, cause the streets down sleep”, then The Game threatens “If the streets get hungry, then the streets gon eat”. They start off with particular altercation whilst driving around California looking for entertaining destinations, when someone in another car provokes them; leading to the desire to “Call up the Homies”.

Ludacris is “Just tryina’ to see some a*s and t*tties”, “have some fun” and “Grab something to eat”, when he thinks “somebody’s following”, telling “He sped up around and drove right in front of us”, so without further ado, decides “Before we jump out and get ready to clown” and The Game jumps in to say “N*gga call up the homies, it’s about to go down”.

The Game further punctuates Ludacris throughout rapping “N*gga I stay strapped, I don’t wanna pull the thing out”, before having his own verse, including “I’m on my way now”, “Got me feelin’ Atlanta brave now” and “Ok, hit a different strip club everyday”.

Willie Northpole finishes the last verse started by Luda, coming in with “Big homie I got ya, stick to ya like a catctus”, continuing “I see a couple thugs, with some b*tch Tennessees” and ending “I see some n*gga staring at us, with a lame frown, I’m a call up the homies”.

“Call Up the Homies” was released on iTunes on November 11 (listen to it here) after being leaked on to the internet on October 10 and, as with Ludacris’s homies, you’re sure to want to join in the entertainment of this single.
