Bird Walk - Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em
November 10, 2008 | Author: Rhydian H.M.
“Bird Walk” is the first single of Soulja Boy’s sophomore album, “iSouljaboytellem”, and marks the teenage rapper’s return since his debut album “souljaboytellem.com” (2007), which included the smash hit single that launched his popularity, “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” (read review here). The album “iSouljaboytellem” is due to be out on December 16.
Soulja Boy aims to show he’s not a one hit wonder, after “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” became his only major hit of “souljaboytellem.com”, and “Bird Walk” launches straight into a catchy party beat with a slightly sinister feeling, generating energetic vibes for a dark dance floor.
Lyrically and conceptually, the single brings nothing novel, based around club appearances, dance moves and bragging, introduced with “Turn my swag on man”, with repeated shouts of “Watch me hit my bird walk” throughout and bragging “Step in side da club fresh from head to toe”.
Indeed, as seems to be the intention, “Bird Walk” is keeping it simple as a dance single meant to be enjoyed alongside the video release containing the dance moves to be then “hit” in the clubs.
“Bird Walk” was released on October 28 and is available on iTunes (listen to it here). It has so far reached No. 78 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart after one week and whilst overlooking the lyrics, Soulja BoyTell ‘em has opened up his latest album with an enjoyable track that attempts to light up the clubs with swagger and it’s likely to gain its popularity there.
