Kanye West “Expressing Himself with Melody”, Rapping or not

November 9, 2008 | Author: OfficiallyHipHop

Ever since Kanye released the two singles “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless” for his fourth album, “808s & Heartbreak”, due to be out on November 25, many fans are left wondering just what to make of his new sound.

In our review of “Heartless” (read here), we said, “Kayne continues his use of Auto-Tune technology used on “Love Lockdown”, to produce singing vocals, rather than rap, and marks more forays by Kanye into (what could arguably be called) pop music.”

Obviously, Kanye West is changing up his style for his next album. But the question is, what does Kanye have to say about it?

In a recent interview during a press day for 808’s & Heartbreak, Kanye says that his latest sound is no longer Hip Hop–it’s “Pop Art”, according to DefSounds.com.

“I wanted people to take my words into their soul, and have it embedded in their life and in their spirits, in their energy…I’m about to express myself with melody and have it be a fine line where you don’t know if it’s rapping, or what it is. Its just what’s necessary at the time. What i feel like, what the beat makes me do.”
