E-40 Releases Single “Poor Man’s Hydraulics”

October 29, 2008 | Author: OfficiallyHipHop

E-40’s single “Poor Man’s Hydraulics” was released today on the iTunes Music Store. The single is the third track of the artists upcoming album “The Ball Street Journal”, which is tentatively set for release on November 25.

“Poor Man’s Hydraulics” is the fourth released single for the album, joining previously released singles “Got Rich Twice” (feat Turf Talk), “Break Ya Ankles” (feat Shawty Lo) and “Wake It Up” (feat. Akon).

Being a big E-40 fan, I am always ready to get my hands on another one of his singles, especially if he brings his game to the mic like he did on 2006 album “My Ghetto Report Card”. Hit singles “U and Dat” and “Tell Me When to Go” are by far some of the best from the Bay Area rapper, so it was no surprise when his album went on to become Platinum, after selling over a million copies.

But if E-40 is planning on achieving the same success as he did on “My Ghetto Report Card”, than I sure hope he has saved up the best tracks for his November 25 release, because so far, I am not entirely impressed with his currently released singles (aside from hit single “Wake It Up”).

In “Get Rich Twice”, E-40 continues to do what he does best, and drops a decent Hyphy beat, but the single suffers from a lack of flow and standout lyrics. Even so, this is by far his best work out of singles “Break Ya Ankles” and “Poor Man’s Hydraulics”, the latter being a rather repetitive one to listen to.

E-40 still has time before his next album drops, and only time will tell if he chooses to revisit the basics from “My Ghetto Report Card”, which gave us the Hyphy music that we have all come to enjoy.
