I Placed My Bet with Blak Jak and Won Big

The other night I was writing some website articles up in my room and for whatever reason, I had decided to play my greatest hits from the year 2006. Now I’m a pretty big fan of this year, because my favorite rappers E-40, T.I., Young Jeezy, and Pitbull all have some nice album hits. So I hit the “shuffle” button and started working.
Well it wasn’t too long before the song “Ball Out ($500)” came on, and this is one of those songs that I don’t listen to very much, but I know that I like it for its beat and its chorus. I also knew that it was one of the more popular songs on the album “Place Your Bets” but I really didn’t know much about the artist Blak Jak or his background. So I decided to do some research and report back what I found.
The first thing I discovered was that American rapper Blak Jak grew up in Decatur, Georgia, which is already pimpin’ since my favorite “King of the South” rapper T.I. also originated from the same state as well.
Blak Jak’s interest in hip hop was jump-started by his cousins and in 2006, he released his first independent album featuring single “Ride & Swerve”, which instantly became a hit in the Southern US. Due to the success of this single, Blak Jak was offered a record deal from Universal Records and he later re-released his album in October 2006 as “Place Your Bets”.
Singles “Ball Out ($500)”, featuring T-Pain, and “Bobbin My head” are clearly the standout tracks in my opinion, however, single “Ride & Swerve” is also worth a listen, just so you can see how Blak Jak rapped in the beginning.
When asked about what he had to offer his audience in an interview with DJBooth.net, Blak Jak said, “Man, Blak Jak just offers a lot of realness, a lot of clarity, you know what I mean, a lot of honesty…my records just tell about myself…my outlook on life.”
So whether you’ve heard of Blak Jak or not, and besides the fact that his songs have been out since October 2006, you need to at least check out his single “Ball Out ($500)” when you get the chance. I guarantee it will have you singing the chorus:
When I’m in the strip club I get love for about 500 dollars
Y Y Y Y Yes indeed anything you need for about 500 dollars
I’ll make it rain (make it rain)
they say you the man…(You da man ya)
It’s the let out part, get out c’mon get your 500 dollars in ones
It’s time to ball out
